Livin in the Hospital…

Since Jess had a C-Section, we had to stay in the hospital for four days to help with her recovery.  Unfortunately Aaron could not go visit in the hospital because of the H1N1 concerns, so Jess and Aaron did not see each other for four days.  I would pick up Aaron from daycare after work, have dinner with him, and put him to bed, while Mom would go see Jess at the hospital and help out with Tyler.

Before I jump into the hospital pics…

This was taken 10 days before Tyler was born…this is my only prego pose of Jess that I took over Tyler’s entire pregnancy (I took a ton over Aaron’s pregnancy)…let the spoiling begin…

I figured I would put one in of Aaron as well…this was taken the day before Tyler was born…proud of the zoo he made…

I cannot forget about our low man on the totem pole…no not me…although I am second to last now…

Luckily Shell got him this toy or he would have been really bored…

Snoozing…Jess learned from last time to bring ear plugs…they came in VERY handy.

We would have a hard time waking Tyler for his feedings, so I would use the time to get some photos while I had a willing participant…

They put 3 bracelets on Tyler for ID purposes…you would think that sounds like overkill, but a couple of times they would slip off him because he was so scrawny.

Tyler Born!

Watching the Winter Olympics in the living room minding my own business, and then Jess says "Honey, I think my water broke"...it was 10:25pm.  Thank God that Jess' parents were with us, so Grandpa stayed at home and Jess, Grandma, and myself head on out to the hospital.

For those that did not know, the baby up to this point has been breech...which basically means the head is up instead of down, which means that a C-Section is needed.  We were actually scheduled to do a second external inversion with the Doctor the next day to try and get the baby to turn, but obviously the baby had it's own schedule.
We get to the hospital and Shell comes in right after us.

Doing the final ultrasound to make sure the baby is still breech...

Jess was starting to feel contractions, but they were in the early phases, so they were not too bad (real easy for me to say =) Initially it looked as though we were going to go into the surgery at 3am, but luckily we were able to go in around 1am for the surgery.

We say a prayer before we get ready for the surgery....

Heading out to the surgery...

I had to wait out in the hall as they prep Jess for the C-Section in the Surgery Room....seemed like a eternity.  While I was waiting outside, they give her a Spinal (yes it is as bad as it sounds)...she had a bad experience with the epidural last time, so we were expecting a similar experience, luckily things went MUCH better this time!

They call me in.  I sit behind the curtain...when I come in, I am too chicken to see what they are planning to do…so I quickly get behind the curtain, and they have me sit in a chair.

What's going on back there?

Jess feels some tugging and pushing, and BAM we hear some crying...luckily I was able to get the next shot...

Tyler's first pic…
We did not want to know the sex of the baby until delivery, so even though this was a "surprise"  we both really thought that it would be a boy (based on the same things that Jess went through in with Aaron's pregnancy.)  Tyler was born on 1:47am at 6 lbs 15 oz!

Every time a new baby is born, the dad gets to push a button in the nursery and it plays "Rock A Bye Baby" throughout the delivery section in the hospital...this was my turn...

  • Phi and Stella's Wedding in Texas in July (HOT)

Going back in time...was finally able to round up some pictures from everyone. Jess was still early in the pregnancy during this time, so she was really tired and she had pretty bad morning sickness...and the heat did not help any either. So I had my hands full the entire trip, so I barely had time to take pictures...I think I took 3 pictures the entire trip...

So remember how we ended up getting late for our SD trip...we learned our lesson this time. We set multiple alarms, got to the airport on time...parked in long term parking...everything was going smooth as silk...we even had time to wait in line to get some Starbucks...we head to our gate...and a the gate agent comes running up to us..."Are you the Chiu's?"...uh, yes we are...."You guys needs to get on the plane NOW, because it is about to take off!"...we run on the plane and everyone is already sitting down and all of the storage bins are closed. The bright side to all of this is that they ended up saving 3 seats for us =) Ahem...yeah, this one was my bad...I thought the flight was leaving at 8:30, and on the boarding pass, it said 8:15 (Jess pointed this out to me)...I was like, oh that is probably the time they start boarding...my bad. I travel all of the time for work, and stuff like this NEVER happens...but I am 2-2 when I travel with Aaron.

We went to the Children's Museum...

    Playing with his boat...

    He's perplexed about something...

    Building his Lego race car...

We took him to the Rainforest Cafe during the trip, and he was pretty freaked out when the animals came to life...he sat on Mom's lap the entire night...it was probably one of the most peaceful dinner's we've had in awhile, because Aaron usually cannot sit still and he wants to run around. He was particularly scared of the gorillas.

Since it was so hot outside, I would take Aaron to the Galleria every day...we would run around the ice skating rink area, and spend time reading books at the Border's there, and eat a lot of Chik-fil-a =) Thank God for air conditioning!

    The Big Day

The Bride hanging with Aaron in the dressing room...

One of my favorite shots from the pro photographer...Grandma's homemade tux...

He was wiped out at the end of the night...he fell asleep in the stroller while the music was blasting...

Beautiful pic of the Bride and Groom! Congrats Guys...welcome to the family Phi!

    Big News!
It's been forever since I've updated the blog. For those that do not know, Jess and I are expecting again! Our expected due date is 2/28/10. We are planning to find out the sex of the baby when Jess delivers...should be exciting =)

  • Here is our latest ultrasound from last week...

    Aaron's 2nd Birthday

1st off just wanted to give very special thanks to Kim and Jarvis. They were instrumental in organizing and putting together Aaron's party...you guys rock! Thanks to everyone that showed up!

After last year's party, we decided to do it in the park by our house...it was a hot one, but luckily we were able to find some shaded areas in the park.

Last year's theme was Dinosaurs...this year, Kung Fu Panda! Ask Aaron to show you his fists and feet of fury next time you see him =)

It's not a party without a bounce house...

We like playing bucking bronco in the house...

    Ayden showing Aaron his moves...

From left to right...Jayden, Kim, Haley, and Jarvis...who would have known football would have caused so much drama...

    May and Cammi...

    Pic with Annabelle and Allison....

There was no cake incident this year...

Best place to be, under the shade, sitting on grandma, and enjoying birthday cake and juice...

One of the best moments of the party, Jess put Aaron's arm around Allison, and they actually held this pose for at least 30 seconds (which translates into a hour for adults)...eventually Allison slid away.

On Aaron's actual birthday, Jess brought Jamba Juice to his class. The kids loved it...

Enjoying the prize...Jamba Juice is one of his FAVORITE things...
